THE IMPACT OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF EGYPTIAN INDUSTRIAL EXPORTS

Abstract

The study examines the impact of the circular economy on boosting Egyptian industrial exports by highlighting the transformation of waste and residues into reusable resources. It highlights the role of this economy in improving Egypt's industrial sector and increasing exports of products such as fertilizers and animal feed. This relies on recycling agricultural and industrial waste into exportable products, contributing to reducing imports and achieving sustainable growth in the industrial sector. The study found a strong positive relationship between exports of products resulting from recycled agricultural waste (animal feed and fertilizers) and total industrial exports. The study also reached some statistical results regarding the impact of the circular economy on the development of Egyptian industrial exports, as follows: The relationship between waste and industrial exports: The results of the regression analysis showed a strong direct relationship between Egyptian exports of feed and fertilizers and the growth in industrial exports. Changes in feed and fertilizer exports were responsible for a large portion of the changes in total Egyptian industrial exports. Statistical analysis: The study showed through a simple regression model that increasing feed exports by one unit leads to an increase in industrial exports by $164,614. While fertilizer exports lead to an increase of $16,657, the model's explanatory power: The analyses showed that the R2 ratio was between 82% and 89%, indicating that the model is able to explain a large proportion of the changes in Egyptian industrial exports based on circular economy variables.
